Minister for National Education, Children and Young People, I am writing to you in order to ask you this question: do you believe, as I do, that it is vital for our children to learn to swim? If so, could you tell me why swimming classes in primary schools no longer meet the required quality standards? Why doesn't the basic swimming instruction training given to our primary school teachers meet the requirements that a mother or father is entitled to expect? What's more, I don't believe that a basic life-saving certificate is sufficient to guarantee the safety of my children, and yet this is the only qualification currently required of teachers! Minister, above all I am asking you why swimming instructors are no longer prioritised as the experts appointed to teach our children to swim? In their interests, I would like to see quality swimming lessons held by qualified staff! Please consider my concerns and take action without delay. A responsible citizen
